IRTE Northern Centre Hon. Secretary Neil Mitchell attended the Fylde Vintage and Farm Show at Wharles near Preston in July at the invitation of the event organisers.

The invitation was made to use the skills and knowledge of the IRTE centre to judge the vintage commercial vehicles on display at the event, in relation to their mechanical condition, restoration quality and original authenticity.

After much deliberation and considering the criteria he was working to, Neil decided to award Mark Kennedy from Aspull the award for his 1974 Atkinson Borderer.

The Cummins powered tractor unit, which was purchased in 2014 from an auction in Dundee, Scotland, was brought up to its present condition over a five-year restoration period.

Extensive work was undertaken on the Cummins, Fuller drive line, chassis and the cab that required major refurbishment work and included replacement of the timber frame sections.

For his efforts Mark was presented with an IRTE Northern Centre plaque in recognition of the standard of his vehicle.
