With the Commercial vehicle industry shifting its priorities to safety, both operators and manufacturers alike are determined to have safety at the forefront of their operations. According to new data from the Department for Transport, the collision rates of vans and trucks have fallen dramatically over the past decade. Ongoing advancements in vehicle design and assistance technology mean today’s light commercial vehicles (LCVs) are 27% less likely to be involved in a collision per billion miles travelled compared with 10 years ago – while heavy goods vehicle (HGV) collision rates have more than halved.

With Brake's Road Safety Week (November 19-25) shining a spotlight on safer road travel throughout the UK, both van and truck operators are looking at how fleet investment can both protect people and help their businesses grow. The upcoming Commercial Vehicle Show (CV Show) 2024 is poised to play a pivotal role in assisting them in making informed investment choices.

Over 12,000 visitors from across Britain with fleet buying authority attended the CV Show last year, eager to see some of the world's largest vehicle brands display their newest HGVs and LCVs, which were equipped with wide-vision cabs and cutting-edge safety technology. More than 100 vendors of essential safety-supporting products, including cameras, reversing aids, telematics, and braking and tire management systems created to maximize safe operations, were there alongside them.

Even more operators are anticipated to attend Birmingham's NEC from April 23 to 25 of the following year, with the opportunity to get a firsthand look at new developments in the industry on the show floor. Attendees will receive expert operational safety advice in a comprehensive seminar theatre program that covers critical areas like driver well-being, attracting and keeping top talent, and transitioning fleets away from fossil fuels, as a new addition for 2024.

The CV Show is a must-attend event for anyone involved in the commercial vehicle sector. With its wide range of vehicles, products, and advice, it is the most significant date in the calendar for suppliers to reach forward-thinking operators who are reinforcing their commitment to safe operations.
