The IRTE Northern Centre April CPD event was a joint presentation by David Waddington, Key Account Manager for Renault Trucks UK, and Richard Davies, the Fleet Sales Director for JDS Trucks of Blackburn in Lancashire.
The presentation began with the 35 members and guests present given an insight into the history and structure of the company that produces civil, military, emergency sector and specialist commercial vehicles that are sold throughout the world.
The current UK product range was then covered in detail by the speakers who split the company portfolio into groups. It was explained that the models available are now listed as the T range for long haul, K range for heavy construction, C range for general construction, D range for distribution and the Master available as a panel van or chassis cab.
This section of the evening covered the technical specifications of the engines, transmissions and the variants on cab fitments within the Renault range, that allow the operator to tailor a vehicle that is the right product for their required application.
The final part of the presentation covered the future developments and previous projects undertaken by Renault. This included alternative power options and integral safety features that are now being introduced to the product range as both optional and standard fitments.
An informative question and answer session rounded off the evening before Head of IRTE Services and Northern Centre Committee Member Chris Grime thanked the speakers for their informative presentation lecture.
