Testing

In June 2012 bus and coach operators from all over the UK will put forward teams to compete in a series of engineering challenges, covering three engineering disciplines – mechanical, electrical and body, to see who’s got the best engineers in the industry.

The testing will be carried out at S&B Automotive Academy, a key IRTE Skills Challenge Supporter.

The tests themselves will be based on the irtec licensing scheme.

irtec

irtec is an assessment scheme for technicians working on the maintenance and repair of vehicles in the bus and coach industry.

irtec licences are valid for 5 years and are available at four levels, which reflect the technician’s skills and experience. A new Inspection Technician level will be launched in late 2010.
