Why you should join SOE?

Membership of SOE helps you get the most from your professional engineering career. SOE supports and guides you, offering a personal, professional and friendly service. Whether it’s through sharing knowledge, providing practical advice or gaining professional registration, we can help you take the next step. We have a membership type convenient to your career stage.

Engineering Council registration

One of the greatest benefit when you join SOE is that you get access to Engineering Council registration.

There are many benefits to become an Engineering Technician (EngTech), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng).

Those post-nominals will bring credit and prestige within the engineering community.

SOE is also a licensed member of the Society for the Environment (SocEnv) and can award the Chartered Environmentalist qualification to suitably-qualified SOE members.

SOE post-nominal letters

SOE members are entitled to use SOE post-nominal letters (AMSOE, MSOE or FSOE) on business cards and CVs, which can enhance professionalism in the eyes of potential employers and make you stand out.

CPD, career development, and training advice

SOE members never stop learning and know the importance of CPD. SOE will assist you in pursuing a range of CPD opportunities, including access to mentors, technical consultants and much more. You can take control of your professional development with SOE’s online recording tool to help you manage your career goals.

“As a member of SOE, I achieved Incorporated Engineer registration with the Engineering Council. In addition, the SOE journals keep me up to date with what’s happening in my industry. I regularly attend BES presentations, which are very interesting.”
