Join IRTE Wiltshire for a guided tour of the 2874 Locomotive Trust & Workshop at the heritage Gloucester & Warwickshire Steam Railway.

The Trust is dedicated to restoring this 1918-built example of a Great Western Railway 2-8-0 steam locomotive class, originally designed & constructed at Swindon for operating heavy freight trains.

Rather than producing a static museum exhibit, the overall mission of the 2874 Trust is dedicated to reconstructing Engine 2874 and tender to full running order, with fully certified safety compliance. Furthermore, standards are necessary to (eventually) join the GWS Railway running fleet pool, comprising both steam and heritage diesel-powered locomotives capable of hauling their trains.

As the longer-term project progresses, the Trust maintains preservation of Britain's engineering heritage, with the passing on of traditional mechanical skills combined with employing more modern practices associated with training the next generation of locomotive engineers.

Limited places are available: Please email Wiltshire Hon. Sec. at [email protected] to secure your place.
