IRTE Biofuels Conference

Plant Failures in Industry plus LOLER Requirements at Wind Farms

This presentation will review the United Kingdom power station portfolio with consideration to the predicated UK power shortage. As part of the presentation it will:- Cover the impact of plant failure and the Engineer Surveyor with special reference to a major pressure plant failure in the Midlands. How then the power industry and the Competent person changed the inspection techniques with a brief consideration of the principal “as low as reasonably practicable” (ALARP) and the cost of inspection compared to human life costs. The lessons learnt and changes for the Engineer Surveyor and inspection industry. The presentation will also include a review of the UK wind farms with particular reference to engineering inspections in a wind farm, and how the use of the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations Examination Schemes can be used in this industry This event is of interest to anyone inspecting, using, maintaining or managing plant of any discipline. We hope this subject matter will be of interest to our Colleagues in IPlantE, IRTE as well as BES Members of all disciplines. We hope you can support this event.
