SOE is getting GDPR ready

24th Apr 2018

In preparation for the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which come into force on 25th May, SOE members will see changes to their member profile on the ‘My SOE’ area of the website from 1st May.

We will be asking members to opt in to hearing from us about each of the products and services we offer, including Engineering Council registration and upgrades, events, newsletters and more. The plan is to gradually migrate all members over to the new options during 2018 while avoiding any interruption in the current emails they receive. Your current newsletter and regional events emails will not be affected unless you choose to not opt back in when you update your preferences.

The implementation of GDPR, which is mandatory, is an evolution to existing Data Protection legislation and gives individuals greater control over how their data is used, with increased fines and sanctions for organisations who do not safeguard their customer data sufficiently.

Look out for further updates, including a step-by-step guide to updating your My Soe preferences in May; if you have any questions in the meantime, please contact SOE Marketing and Communications Manager, Mike Hurst on
