Newly elected IRTE council members

The SOE AGM took place at the SOE head office in London and featured new President Howard Seymour’s inauguration. Howard gave a Presidential address to mark the beginning of his time in office and gave a detailed brief of his intended strategy. The AGM also served to introduce the other eight elected board members.

Ian Foster EngTech FSOE FIRTE

Beginning with an apprenticeship, Ian has 40 years’ experience in truck, bus, coach and aviation sectors, taking on roles in businesses of all sizes, up to management level.

CPC holder, accountable for facilities, Health & Safety, purchasing and contract negotiations. He is currently Engineering Director with responsibility for 1,700 vehicles, and is involved in large scale roll out of hybrid, electric and hydrogen buses into London. He is an experienced negotiator with internal and external agencies, vehicle and equipment manufacturers.

Ian wants to raise the profile of IRTE, engage the young, promote the benefits of a strong voice for engineers, and push education providers to show that engineering is a great choice for a wide range of careers.


Peter Chidley EngTech MSOE MIRTE

As a vehicle technician engineer with associated management roles, Peter possesses a broad experience gained over 40 years, principally engaged in light and heavy transport, with additional fields in construction plant and military vehicles both UK and overseas. Peter wants to strengthen IRTE as a credible professional body.

Elected IRTE member 1983, centre committee member 1984, Secretary 1986, MSOE 2003, Peter was also awarded SOE Volunteer of the Year 2012. Currently, Hon Secretary, IRTE Wiltshire Centre, Peter will endeavour to address the needs of young members, and establish IRTE as the institute of choice.


Charles Lymer MSOE MIRTE

Starting as apprentice, Charles has moved through all areas of transport and engineering management as Director, and has amassed over 50 years of experience in the industry.

Having been heavily involved in SOE and IRTE through training of engineers, transport and H&S managers, Charles gives legal updates at IRTE meetings.

Charles encourages the maintaining of high qualification levels required in this professional industry and the sharing of knowledge and experience.
