Norwegian energy group Statkraft launches UK virtual power plant

Norwegian energy provider Statkraft has launched a virtual power plant (VPP) in the UK which will connect gas, battery storage and renewables and enable it to instantly respond to demand.

Rolls-Royce in talks with Chinese firm over new power station in UK

Engineering giant Rolls-Royce is in discussions with Chinese state-run firm China General Nuclear (CGN) over a deal to supply systems for a nuclear power station in the UK.
The proposed site is based at Bradwell in Essex, where an existing nuclear station was closed in 2002.

Commercial nuclear reprocessing plant closes

The Thorp branch of Sellafield has stopped reprocessing nuclear fuel it was announced in November.
The decommissioning of the Thorp site in West Cumbria, opened in 1994, comes after many of its customers opted to store the fuel there rather than reprocess it.
