Newly elected members

David Young IEng FSOE FBES

Having been in the industry for over 25 years and with the BES for over 35 years (engineer surveyor, operations management and now health and safety), David brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has been part of the PSC for the past three years and assisted in organisation and supported the BES South East region.

David aims to drive recognition and understanding of our role within industry and, with suitable training, guidance and other personal development opportunities, considerably strengthen this position.

Alistair Reid IEng CEnv FSOE FBES

An Incorporated Engineer since 1991, Alistair has a broad engineering background, with experience in the manufacturing sector, applications, maintenance and management.

Alistair joined the engineering inspection industry as an Engineer Surveyor in 2001 and developed his understanding of the role as a field trainer, auditor and a member of the Company Health and Safety committee. In early 2016, he became an Associate Standards Engineer.

Alistair aims to push BES efforts to enhance the status of Engineer Surveyors through promoting society membership and professional registration among colleagues across the industry, whilst providing opportunities for continued professional development through the provision of relevant technical seminars and events in the regions. He also aims to encourage and support members to achieve Engineering Council registration at an appropriate level.

Alistair is a member of the SOE Trustee Board, Chair of the SOE Membership & Professional Standards Committee and Chair of the BES Midlands region.

Kevin Hawkins EngTech MSOE MBES LCGI

Engineering surveyor for 22 years, Kevin has been an active member of the BES PSC as an apprentice and now as a Director, being Chairman of the North West BES region and contributing to the arrangement of technical lectures.

Kevin believes technical competencies of engineer surveyors can be improved through lectures, and wants to help members gain registration with the engineering council. He aims to help stimulate membership by enabling engineering surveyors to be involved in discussion.
