The North London Centre's January meeting enjoyed a presentation by Kelly Young of Motor Codes Ltd.

Motor Codes was set up by the motor industry to act as the self-regulatory body for the automotive sector. Kelly explained the Code of Practice for Service and Repair and the process of accreditation. She then described the operation of the Motor Codes customer portal website, outlining its use as a marketing tool and explaining the key role of the Motor Codes operated customer satisfaction surveys.

She also described the operation of the Motor Code arbitration scheme and its use in dealing with dissatisfied customers, explaining the benefits in cost and time gained by garages using the system, as well as the overall benefit in customer satisfaction despite the high rate of decisions in favour of garages.
