North Eastern

A group of 24 members travelled from the North-Eastern Centre for an evening tour of the Econ manufacturing site, along with a talk on winter maintenance issues with regional sales manager David Holywell.

IRTE members from a wide variety of transport-related sectors, including many from local authorities, working in roles that span apprentices and technicians, workshop managers, fleet engineers and transport managers, were present for the tour.

“The IRTE’s remit is to encourage ever-higher standards of transport engineering excellence from our own independent standpoint, so it is always rewarding for our members to get out in the field and visit organisations like Econ, that are leading the field in their own industry,” said IRTE Centre Chairman, Peter Reed.”

He added: “We were all extremely impressed with our visit to Econ and we had great feed-back from all the guys. It was a real eye opener to see Econ’s levels of knowledge and the expertise, precision and innovation that goes into producing such a diverse range of products and large numbers of bespoke vehicles, all to the highest standards.”
