IRTE Northern Centre welcomes Traffic Commissioner

25th Oct 2018

The IRTE Northern Centre began the new season of CPD presentations and lectures with the Traffic Commissioner for the North West Mr Simon Evans visiting the centre and addressing a large audience of members and guests.

Mr Evans began his presentation by giving those present an insight into his background within the legal system prior to leaving Her Majesty’s Courts Service in 2007 to pursue a portfolio career that included the role of Deputy Traffic Commissioner in the North West of England until 2017 when he was appointed the Traffic Commissioner for the North West.

The format of the evening was broken up into various sections with the Commissioner covering numerous topics that included operator compliance, maintenance contractors, drivers conduct, ad-blue emulators and the process of dealing with non-compliance that can lead to a Public Inquiry and possibly the revocation of the operator's licence.

An informative question and answer session completed the evening before IRTE Northern Centre Committee member and SOE President elect Michael Sweetmore thanked the Traffic Commissioner on behalf of the Centre for his presentation and he was presented him with a commemorative plaque as a memento of his visit to the Northern Centre.
