We collect four kinds of information from visitors to soe.org.uk: Pre-application details for Application form downloads, registration details for email updates, download Technical Guides details and registration details for secure content areas and server log files. We do not retain any information submitted through email a friend.

Pre-application details
If you download an application form to apply to join the SOE, the information we collect is, your name, email address, job title, location, related sector details and whether you’d like to receive email updates from SOE.

A copy of this information is kept securely by SOE and our technology supplier, Lumison and will be held until such time you inform SOE otherwise. This information is stored to allow us to follow up your application and will not be shared with any other party. This information is also stored on back-up tapes to avoid loss of data.

Register for email updates
If you opt to register for email updates from SOE, the registration information we collect is: your name, your email address, your related sector and membership number.

A copy of this information is kept securely by SOE and our technology supplier, Lumison and will be held until such time you unsubscribe or inform SOE otherwise. This information is stored to allow us to send information about SOE that may be of interest to you and will not be shared with any other party. This information is also stored on back-up tapes to avoid loss of data.

Download Technical Guides details
If you download a Technical Guide PDF, the information we collect is, your name, email address, job title, location and whether you are interested in joining the SOE.

A copy of this information is kept securely by SOE and our technology supplier, Lumison and will be held until such time you inform SOE otherwise. This information is stored to allow us to know more about non-members who are interested in our publications and will not be shared with any other party. This information is also stored on back-up tapes to avoid loss of data.

Register for secure content areas
To access secure areas of soe.org.uk, you are required to be a member of SOE. To obtain a username and password, the information we request is: you name, your email address, membership number and whether you’d like to receive email updates from SOE.

This information is stored to allow us to provide you access to members content areas and will not be shared with any other party. A copy of this information is kept securely by SOE and our technology supplier, Lumison and will be held until such time you inform SOE otherwise. This information is also stored on back-up tapes to avoid loss of data.

Server log files
Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the website. Lumison puts together log file information from all our visitors, which we use to make changes to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way that visitors move around and interact with it. Log files do not contain any personal information.

Changes to this privacy policy
If this privacy policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing this page ensures you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances, if any, we will share it with other parties.
