IRTE technical conference to focus on cost saving technologies
2nd Jul 2012
The IRTE conference 2012 – which this year focuses on strategies for improving the cost effectiveness of fleet management and operations – is shaping up to be a truly special event.
Speakers at the conference – at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, on 13 September – include: Catherine Crouch, group CRS director at Howard Tenens; Nick Elliott, national transport manager at Lafarge; Darren O'Donnell, logistics asset manager at Coca-Cola Enterprises (above); and Paul Wreaves, operations director at ETS Distribution.
Crouch, Elliott and O'Donnell say they will be explaining their different choices of gas and multi-fuel (CNG/diesel and LPG/diesel) engines for their quite different haulage and distribution operations.
Delegates will hear how and why Howard Tenens, Lafarge and Coca-Cola Enterprises are achieving sustainable cost savings, while also improving their green credentials. They will also learn about the upfront costs and useful solutions.
Meanwhile, ETS’ Wreaves says he will discuss what lies behind the success of his operation’s telematics project, which is delivering mouth-watering savings, as a result of seriously improved fuel usage and reduced vehicle maintenance.
Other key speakers include: Professor David Cebon, research director at the leading Cambridge Vehicle Dynamics Consortium; and Andrew Nicol, technical specialist for heavy-duty engines at world-renowned Ricardo.
Subjects they and others will cover include: the Euro 6 emissions legislation and its impact on trucks, fuel efficiency and costs; aerodynamics and bodybuilding advances that make a difference; and improvements in systems and equipment for tyre management and cost saving.
The conference keynotes will be delivered by Beverley Bell, senior traffic commissioner, and Alistair Peoples, chief executive of VOSA.
