Knorr-Bremse proudly sponsor the IRTE Skills Challenge 2012

9th Apr 2012

Knorr-Bremse is the world's leading manufacturer of braking systems for commercial vehicles, and has pioneered the development and production of modern braking systems for over 100 years.

Following the success of the first IRTE Skills Challenge, held last year, Knorr-Bremse has again signed up as a main sponsor. “The technological advances in Knorr-Bremse bus and coach braking systems has taken a leap forward in the last few years, but with future legislative changes we will see even more advanced systems being used. It is therefore extremely important that technicians’ skills are continually updated and we see the IRTE Skills Challenge as a great driver to promote this” says Tim Ford, UK sales and marketing manager.

Knorr-Bremse is once again sponsoring the Electrical, Mechanical and Body Team Award, and will play a central role in both tests and evaluation. Technicians taking part will be tested on their knowledge of air brake and ABS/EBS systems. Modern buses are now equipped with the latest EBS 5 system, developed by Knorr-Bremse.

We hope the IRTE Skills Challenge 2012 will help reinforce the importance of using only original genuine braking system parts on buses and coaches, to maintain safety and long term reliability for operators and the developing skills of technicians.

This initiative to champion technical and practical knowledge, and the abilities of UK bus engineers, is a perfect fit with our ethos of technology, leadership and excellence. With our braking and electronic systems, Knorr-Bremse has been making a crucial contribution to road safety for 100 years, and we want to support and encourage the technicians who will guarantee industry safety for the future.

To further help operators reduce costs, the Knorr-Bremse diagnostic tool, “NEO”, enables accurate and cost-effective PC diagnostics on all Knorr-Bremse ABS & EBS systems. This eliminates the need to call in “specialists”, again reducing downtime and servicing costs.

Knorr-Bremse has highly professional technical and after sales support teams, training programmes tailored to your needs, and works closely with UK bus operators to deliver bespoke training sessions.

During this year’s IRTE Skills Challenge, Knorr-Bremse will be offering a chance to win free places on our training courses for those who wish to register. To find out more please call 0117 9846222
