Boys 2 MAN

17th Jul 2008

On 17 July at Silverstone, an award ceremony took place to celebrate the success of MAN Truck & Bus’ apprentices, with twenty-one new Service Technicians and four Parts Technicians graduating. Newly qualified, the technicians received IRTE membership and EngTech (Engineering Technician) registration.

MAN’s Apprentice Awards brought apprentices from all over the country to the iconic race track, where they toured the circuit, took part in a wheel change competition and enjoyed a three-course meal, as well as receiving their awards, which in some cases included a cheque for £500.

SOE Chief Exec Nick Jones and Membership Coordinator Jennifer Boyle attended the event. Following the meal, Nick took to the stage to both congratulate and thank apprentices for their commitment to the industry before presenting them with certificates.

MAN Head of UK Service and SOE member John Davies hosted the ceremony, announcing to apprentices that they will receive training for a further two years to cement their skill and competency. MAN, working in partnership with S&B Training, has a dedicated apprenticeship programme and an apprentice pass rate 30% higher than the national average for NVQ achievement in the motor sector.

All MAN apprentices from the start of their second year will receive IRTE membership.
