Newly elected IPlantE council members

The SOE AGM took place at the SOE head office in London and featured new President Howard Seymour’s inauguration. Howard gave a Presidential address to mark the beginning of his time in office and gave a detailed brief of his intended strategy. The AGM also served to introduce the other eight elected board members.

Ian Jackson CEng FSOE FIPlantE

Working in the power industry for over 40 years, Ian has been involved in electricity trading and energy regulation, together with associated compliance, alongside plant operations. An IPlantE PSC and SOE Trustee Board member, Ian has previously been IPlantE PSC chair and representative speaker at Plant and Asset Management 2016.

Ian aims to advocate the role of professional plant engineering, to create a greater understanding within the industry and wider society. He will work towards this by making IPlantE a key part of professional engineering, that is valued by existing members and relevant to potential members.

Alan Fitzpatrick CEng CEnv FSOE FBES

Alan is an experienced engineer in the power and renewables sector, having served as an engineering officer at sea, engineer surveyor and head office engineer for RSA. He has teaching/training roles for the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

With experience of the renewables energy sector, Alan has extensive knowledge of the waste, energy, solar, wind and hydro sectors.

Alan has previously been on the board of the Engineering Council, the SOE Trustee Board, Chair of SOE Membership and Professional Standards, Chair of BES PSC and is now Vice Chair of IPlantE PSC. He aims to continue involvement with IPlantE with published articles in Plant Engineer and public speaking engagements.
