There are 5 easy steps to joining SOE and getting the career recognition you deserve

You can now join SOE online as an Associate Member. You will need to register on the website first before you can join.

Once you have registered on the website you can use the 'Can I join SOE online?' flowchart to determine whether you are eligable to apply as an Associate Member online or whether to use one of our downloadable application forms.

Step 1

Register for access and then either join online as an Associate Member or download an application form in My SOE. You will also be able to download the step-by-step guidelines to completing your application form.

Step 2

Identify a sponsor for your application – this can be an SOE member, an Engineering Council Registrant or senior manager at your workplace.

Please note: If you are applying for Associate Member you do not need to find a sponsor.

Step 3

Photocopy your engineering qualification certificates. Photocopies need to be signed by two sponsors to verify they are true copies of original certificates.

Please note: If you are joining online this does not apply.

Step 4

You now need to pay your application fee. Do this by completing the debit/credit card form or by writing a cheque made payable to SOE.

UK bank account holders are encouraged to also complete the Direct Debit (DD) mandate (part of the application form) as you can save money on your membership subscription by paying this way.

Please note: An application fee will be automatically added when you are applying online.

Step 5

Submit your completed application form (and Direct Debit mandate) along with your application fee payment to:
