North Lindsey College (Kingsway Consulting Ltd) on an irtec roll

17th Oct 2011

Kingsway Consulting Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of North Lindsey College. They provide training and support services to businesses locally, regionally and nationally with a high profile and award-winning reputation for the quality of their engagement and delivery. The organisation is based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.

North Lindsey College has recently received approved irtec assessment centre status, and is now starting to work with a number of local employers to meet the growing need for technician licensing in the truck and HGV sector.

Notably, the college has just completed full irtec licensing for fifteen technicians from a local MAN dealership, DSV Commercials, near Immingham in North Lincolnshire, highlighting their commitment to the scheme.

DSV's Director Chris Marshall explained why he chose to register his technicians with an irtec licence: “I wanted to make a real statement on how seriously we take our obligation in supporting operators’ O-licenses, and the exceptional professional standard that could be made available from maintenance providers, in particular from DSV Commercials. A licence is great proof of a technician's competence, whilst ensuring consistency of quality throughout the dealership, and giving operators the reassurance that they are receiving top quality service provision. I wanted to be the first to have all technicians confirmed as competent by a leading professional body and set a real standard within the industry, something that we can all be very proud of achieving.”

North Lindsey College’s irtec Coordinator Brian Turner said: “The irtec assessments have gone very well and been welcomed by technicians who are keen to cement their experience with an independent and industry-respected qualification.

“We are in talks with a number of other local employers and plan to offer irtec assessments in the workplace. We also received interest from one independent dealership in Leeds who wants to use irtec as a way of ensuring new employees meet the skill level required for the job.”

irtec is increasingly seen as the benchmark for technician competence, and offers employers the chance to independently assess the skills of their transport engineering teams. The licence proves a commitment to skills and customer service, whilst offering technicians the opportunity to be rewarded and recognised throughout industry for their invaluable skills.
