"BIFFA bought into the irtec scheme in 2005 and have registered 165 technicians to date. We see the irtec scheme as the ideal opportunity to raise standards and acknowledge the professionalism and competence of the technicians employed by our company.

"We have invested in excess of £1 million to the scheme and every technician who has been successful in obtaining their licence, has achieved a pay rise of £1 per hour. Although this may seem to be a major financial commitment, the benefits to the company far outweigh the initial outlay. Our business is now far more productive and the philosophy is to ‘get it right first time’. I know that every technician who has obtained an irtec licence is competent to do their job."
