South Western Centre out in force

30th Apr 2009
South Western

When Tony took over, the Centre was based in Plymouth and had poor attendance. The Centre agreed to move to Exeter (with two meetings per year held in Plymouth) and Tony also arranged the annual pilgrimage to the CV Show – giving local members a direct route to the crucial transport industry event.

SOE’s Chief Executive signed a long-service certificate, which was presented to Tony in front of an appreciative crowd. Nick later said: “People like Tony have made a huge difference to their Centre, the wider Society and their industry as a whole. On behalf of the Centre’s members, past and present, I sincerely thank Tony for his dedication and enthusiasm, and wish him a deservedly enjoyable future.”

Another surprise for Tony was a presentation from Dave Corkery, who presented Tony with a cut glass whisky decanter and a trophy commemorating the best meetings from Tony’s impressive tenure.

Tony’s continued work commitments will see him now based in Cornwall, however, the Centre is pleased to know that he will remain part of the Centre and attend meetings whenever possible.
