Slick start for Scottish West Centre

25th Nov 2009
Scottish West

The Scottish West Centre 's first lecture of the season was presented by John Steele of Millers Oils, and provided delegates with a lecture on the changing face of oil and bio diesel.

John began his lecture by briefly explaining the evolution of lubricants and oils from the late 1800s to the present day. This covered the manufacturing process from mono to multi-grades, to refined oils and synthetics. John then explained how oil viscosities have changed throughout the years, before going on to discuss current industry evolutions.

The second half of the presentation was about bio diesels and emission targets. John highlighted that we are now using around 5% bio diesel; however, the government wants to increase that to 15% within seven years.

The Centre wishes to thank Millers Oils for an interesting, informative and thought provoking-lecture, which was well received by the attending members.
