Pirelli at the Border

12th Mar 2009
Border

Neil Booker, Truck Marketing Manager from Burton-on-Trent gave the talk; beginning by outlining the history of Pirelli from 1926 to the present day, he went on to explain their current range of commercial tyres and stated a range of nine new tyres, called Amaranto, will be launched during 2009.

Amaranto is Pirelli’s solution to the rapidly evolving ‘low severity’ market, using advanced production processes to improve the technical characteristics of tyre’s components.

Many innovative ideas have been built into this new range, including spiral belts to give greater flexibility for better comfort, progressive response and steering precision and no joints in the cords, which give improved retread-ability. A new, high quality tread pattern has also been introduced on the range, designed to prevent stone trapping, whilst cutting-edge technology promotes excellent grip and even wear.

The Pirelli contingent also used the opportunity to describe their Total Tyre Service, a one-telephone number centre that can be called from anywhere in Europe. This covers roadside tyre service and can cover a tyre management service – at a cost of course.

Members of the Border Centre warmly thank Pirelli for the presentation, which outlined some of the latest developments in tyre technology, from one of the world’s foremost manufacturers.
