Ivor Searle Engine Remanufacturing
25th Nov 2011
North London
Summer visit to Ivor Searle
The term “re-con” has often been viewed in the automobile service and repair industry with an amount of stigma and scepticism.
In the summer, the IRTE North London Centre committee decided to see for ourselves whether one of the leading engine re-manufacturers in the UK could live up to their claims. We were kindly invited to the Ivor Searle facility at Soham, Cambridgeshire, where any doubts were soon dispelled.
Ivor Searle have been re-manufacturing engines for over sixty years, and now include gearboxes, cylinder heads and turbochargers, in addition to complete engines.
Delegates were taken through each stage of a process, which can qualify as the ultimate in recycling. Re-manufacturing uses 50% less energy than the OEM,s and on average, 85% of the original parts are reused after passing through various machining workshops, where visitors witnessed a wealth of skills.
Next visit - 7 December 2011
Robert Waring, Ivor Searle’s Business Development Manager, will be providing a presentation for the centre on Wednesday 7 December 2011 at the Red Lion, Hatfield, and will be bringing along a range of remanufactured parts.
For the enthusiast or fleet engineer alike, this is one presentation you cannot afford to miss.
