Members and guests enjoyed an entertaining and educational evening during a visit to the Humber Car Museum, owned by the event host, Alan Marshall.

An informal networking session was followed by an introduction to the manufacturer, after which Marshall guided delegates around the superb collection of some thirty Humber cars.

The tour proved to be a riveting historical illustration, with a number of cars having lively histories. These included one 1933 Humber, a Super Snipe, which was owned by King Edward VIII and Mrs Simpson and retained many of its original features. Similarly impressive was a 1952 Imperial Landaulette, owned by King George VI for his visit to Australia, a 1954 Super Snipe Mk 3, which was supplied to HRH The Queen Mother for use in Scotland, and also a 1954 Pullman Limousine, which was owned by Baroness Rothschild. Finally, Marshall highlighted one vehicle used by Sir Stirling Moss to travel from Norway to Portugal in a record-breaking ten hours.

Delegates agreed that all the cars were in immaculate condition, highlighting the encyclopaedic knowledge and infectious enthusiasm of the museum owner, as well as the care he has taken to maintain the vehicles.

A member of the Humber Car Club, Marshall also uses his fleet for special occasions (wedding hire, etc).
