FDTEK presents

Over twenty delegates attended the centre’s inaugural event of the season to hear head of network development for Sheffield-based FDTEK Ltd, Charles Gray, deliver an entertaining and educational lecture on the vehicle inspection tool, R2Conline.

An IRTE member for some thirty-five years, Gray has been working in the road transport industry since he left school, and prior to his current position, was the aftersales director for a large multi-franchised dealership group. It was during this time where Gray helped to develop the R2Conline system, which electronically carries out vehicle maintenance inspections and logs results to provide vital fleet management information. Gray went on to explain that the system is used by several major manufacturers' franchised dealers, including Iveco, Renault Trucks and ISUZU, and that it could be tailored to suit other industries, such as plant and building maintenance.

With the aid of his two colleagues, Dean Beddow and Richard Baxter, Gray demonstrated a live example of how a scheduled Inspection was carried out, explaining the safeguards in place to ensure accuracy. Following, was a lively Q&A on the system’s practicalities, before centre representatives thanked the speakers for an excellent presentation.
