Ayrshire nod to old and new
1st Feb 2008
Scottish Ayrshire
Chairman Ronnie Devlin kicked off proceedings by presenting Fraser McMillan with the first place award, a crystal engraved tankard. In addition, Fraser received the latest Fronius portable welder, donated by TPSFronius Ltd of Kilmarnock, as well as other prizes contributed by local firms.
Second place winner Craig Weir then came forward to accept his award, and received a large socket set kindly offered by Drybridge Business Tower Tools & Equipment Ltd. Craig also received a jacket and other prizes.
After the ceremony, time was taken to remember Charlie Dunn, whose widow was present to receive a heartfelt gesture from the Scottish National Committee, in the form of an engraved crystal candleholder. Honorary Secretary Ronnie McMillan then presented Mrs Dunn with a crystal rose bowl engraved with the IRTE logo, recognising the importance of the familys work to the Centre.
Finally, the lecture continued with an excellent presentation from Peter Goult, Technical Support Manager for LDV Group Ltd. Peter, a friend of the Centre, did not disappoint as he relayed details of the new and old LDVs as well as the Russian vehicles the new owners are making.
Once again, the Scottish Ayrshire Centre provided all in attendance with a most fulfilling evening, acknowledging past and recognising future talents in their midst. A successful event, made all the better with a subsequent supper.
