An audience with the Traffic Commissioner

12th Oct 2011
Northern

A week in the life: (l-r) SOE immediate past president Chris Grime, NWTC Beverley Bell and Northern Centre Chairman John Ashcroft.

The first lecture of the new season for the Northern Centre attracted over forty members and guests to the Barton Grange Hotel, near Preston, for an audience with the North West Traffic Commissioner (NWTC) Beverly Bell.

The Commissioner gave a highly informative lecture which centred on the working week of the NWTC. In addition, the many other duties carried out were detailed, notably, her role as a Deputy TC within other regions. These responsibilities are due to the role Bell has taken on of Acting Senior TC, following the retirement of Phillip Brown.

There was also an opportunity for delegates to ask questions, which ranged from CABOTAGE and European legislation to maintenance standards and driver conduct hearings – all of which were answered by Bell with experienced aplomb.

SOE immediate past president and long-standing Northern Centre committee member, Chris Grime, expresses thanks to the Commissioner on behalf of delegates for the enjoyable event.
