Student of the Year award

30th Apr 2009
North Western

The NORTH WEST CENTRE recently awarded Liverpool John Moores University student Phillip Au its coveted Student of the Year award, during a ceremony at the university at the end of April.

Phillip is a second year student at the university’s BSc (Hons) Management, Transport and Logistics programme and part of the School of Engineering, Technology & Maritime Operations.

Centre Chair, Puala Jones, presented Phillip with the award at an event that was also attended by IRTE Council member and SOE Honorary Treasurer David Rimmer and Dr Charles Roberts, leader of Phillip’s degree course.

As Student of the Year, Phillip receives an IRTE shield, which he will keep for 12 months, as well as a smaller plaque to keep and a book token.

Phillip is the latest in a long line of gifted engineers to receive the coveted award, which has its origins as far back as 1979. Dr Roberts commented: “Phillip is a deserving recipient of this award for his work during the first two years of his degree. The award illustrates the strong links between this programme, the transport and logistics industry, and professional bodies such as the IRTE.”
